In the heart of Troup, TX, a small non-profit organization is making a big impact on the community through their dedicated efforts to support those in need. The Troup Community Food Pantry, located in zip code 75789, opens its doors every Thursday from 4 PM to 6 PM, ensuring that no resident in the area goes hungry.

In the heart of Troup, the Troup Community Food Pantry (TCFP) stands as a beacon of hope and support, offering essential food assistance to families and individuals in the 75789-zip code during these challenging economic times. Our drive-thru food pantry feeds between 125-150 families each week, providing not only nourishment but also the reassurance that no one in our community has to face hunger alone.
Behind this incredible effort are the dedicated volunteers who make it all possible. Each week, about 30 volunteers pour their hearts into ensuring that food security is a reality for their neighbors. Without these selfless individuals, the food pantry simply could not operate. Their tireless efforts demonstrate the powerful impact of community action, but the need for additional volunteers remains urgent.
We are calling on compassionate individuals to join our mission and give just three hours of their time once a month—or even once a quarter. Volunteers are crucial for our Thursday evening food distributions, where they help provide much-needed sustenance to local residents.
Additionally, we urgently need volunteers who can drive and pull the pantry trailer to pick up donations and food orders every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In particular, another team is needed for the third Wednesday of each month to collect supplies from the East Texas Food Bank. These driving roles typically start around 7:30 AM and finish by 10 AM.
Beyond distribution and driving, volunteers play vital roles in other areas:
Packing Bags: Help prepare food packages on Tuesdays between 9 AM-10 AM.
Prep Team: Assist with pre-packaging food on Thursdays from 11 AM-1 PM to ensure distribution is smooth.
Senior Delivery Program: Ride alongside our delivery driver to bring food to senior citizens at the Troup Senior Apartments—a lifeline of support for some of the community's most vulnerable members.
Our goal is to have enough volunteers so that each person only works once a quarter, lightening the load and making participation flexible for everyone. If you or someone you know is willing to give their time to support our mission, we encourage you to reach out. Contact us at (903) 842-3121 or via email at TroupFoodPantry@yahoo.com. Volunteers can also sign up for a shift by visiting our online scheduler here and choosing the best time to volunteer.
Together, as a community, we can continue to feed hope, strengthen bonds, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most. Your support—whether through volunteering, spreading the word, or simply encouraging others—is invaluable in ensuring the success of the TCFP and the well-being of the Troup community.
